“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Joshua 1:8
If you observe today’s theme Scripture carefully, you’d notice it didn’t say God shall make your way prosperous, but that you shall make your own way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely in the affairs of life and have good success. But for this to happen, you must meditate.
So what are you supposed to meditate on? The subject of your meditation should be words and things that are consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Meditating on anything else will not produce lasting results. Both the Old and New Testaments are replete with words that are consistent with the realities of the new creation life. For example, Isaiah said, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” (Isaiah 54:17), and this is consistent with what Jesus said in Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” That means what Isaiah said belongs to the Church, and we can meditate on it today just as we would the words of Jesus in Luke 10:19.
When you meditate on God’s Word often, not only will you have good success, you’ll find yourself dealing wisely in the affairs of life, and satan will find it difficult to carry out his nefarious acts in your life. In other words, the wisdom of God will function in you so much that when you make decisions or take actions on something, they’ll be just right.
