“…We have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:19 NASB
There are times, in your walk with the Lord, when you may not even “feel” close to Him. The only thing that will keep you going at such times, is your understanding of God’s Word. The Bible says, “…we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19 NASB). This means when everything else shakes, only that Word will remain the same. Thus, you have to hold on to it tightly.
When things don’t go the way you planned, don’t say, “Lord, what’s happening to me?” No! Instead, lay hold on the sure Word of prophecy that has been declared concerning you. Even if your faith seems small at the beginning, don’t give up. Keep feeding your spirit with the Word and keep acting on the Word; that’s how to grow your faith strong. Pay attention to God’s Word, as you would do to a flicker of light in a dark place. The more you meditate on the Word, the brighter that light gets. Soon enough, that light will envelope your entire being, and the darkness will disperse.
God’s Word is surer than anything in this world. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35). That challenge that seems insurmountable only “came to pass”; it will surely pass away and only the Word of God will remain.
